Diane, apologies for thinking it was captive - our red foxes are very, very wary of humans. I think I would prefer this photo if it was taken from the same eye level as the fox, rather than looking down from above. |

A lovely capture, great details with the whiskers, the steady look in the eyes, the darker fur around the ears, the white "bib" etc. Jointly my top scoring image. |

This doesn't seem to be a wildlife photo in the generally accepted sense - the fox has no wariness at all, which does make me wonder if it is captive or has been hand-reared. However, the focus and dof are spot on - to have both ears, eyes and snout in focus, but the background soft is ideal. Light is a tad harsh, but overall a good portrait. In any event, I have tended to give higher marks to photos that show a bit of the animals natural habitat, or of its behaviour. |
