Wilson's Snipe, Gallinago delicata. Uncommon and inconspicuous along the grassy edge of Lake Estes. 04/07/14 9:16am. Canon 5Dmk3, Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM, f/5.6, 1/2000s, ISO 800, lens focal length 400mm. He surprised me, as much as I surprised him.

Thanks to the Estes Park News, Inc. for publishing my Wilson's Snipe photo on the front page of the April 11, 2014 edition. The paper said it was a rare bird, but it is more like… uncommon. | Wow! I've seen Snipe a few times, mostly flying over - never close enough to get a photo of any sort, let alone one of this quality. Superb work. |
