I think its the same Genus, different species as the Brant (Branta bernicla). Branta leucopsis or as hahn23 called it the Barnacle Goose. The Brant has a dark head with a white ring around the neck, and is somewhat common in the states. It is pretty cool to see the birds from other spots in the world! So similar but so different. |

My ID resource would lead me to call these Barnacle Goose, Branta leucopsis. Same as your ID, I think. I've never seen one, but might be seen in the NE US. Good photo. |
