Challenge: Paper II (Advanced Editing VII)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Canon PowerShot S3 IS
Lens: Canon 12x IS USM (S3 IS built-in Lens) -- 36-432mm (35mm EQ)
Location: Concord, California, USA
Date: Feb 18, 2014
Aperture: 8.00
ISO: 80
Shutter: 1/15
Date Uploaded: Feb 18, 2014

I set up the camera on a mini-tripod, set the exposure and focus, activated the timer, then had Isaac trigger the shutter-button while I tried to time the shuffle to the exposure. We were outdoors and there was actually more light than we needed, and without a ND filter I couldn't really get the exposure long enough to show the motion blur effectively.

-Mini-tripod, timer, manual mode, manual focus
-FL 36mm (35mm EQ) in SuperMacro mode
-A little local dodging and blurring to lines on table
-Cloned-out ink spot on my finger
-Channel Mixer in monochrome mode
-RGB Curve
-Blue Curve to tint
-Resize
-Crop from top to 3:2 asect ratio
-USM at 88%/0.8 dia/TH = 5 through graduated mask (applied twice)
-SaveAs JPEG at 100% quality = 250KB

Sir General I think the concept was a home run. The only thing stopping this from being a top 5 finish is the lack of motion blur which, as you said, you couldn't get without a ND filter.

This is good but for some reason I find myself wishing there were more cards. Don't ask me why... maybe it'd give it room for more creative shuffling positions?
