 My favorite knife, bought from Shigeharu, the oldest knife shop (some say the oldest shop of any kind) in Kyoto, just down the road from Nijo Castle, where the shogun hung out. Apparently there's not much call for samurai swords these days, so Shigeharu got into the knife business a few hundred years ago or so.

Some may gripe about the shallow DOF (DNMC! Oh my!) but they would be missing the point. Pun intended. I bracketed this from f/2.8 up to f/32 and the range around f/8 was just what I was going for, a dreamy feel with the point sharp and just a hint of the rest of the blade behind. Natural light in front of a window.

1-15 Dropping like a rock. Started the challenge over 6, but the combo of DNMC votes and people that just don't like it are killing me. Been steadily falling over the past 2 days. Sitting at 5.02 and about to fall below the Mendoza line. :)

Nice idea. Paper-thin focal plane shown off well here on a knife point. The soft, muted tones throughout are quite nice, as they bleed from the knife point outward, and to be honest I think the border might even detract from that a bit as it creates an outer bit of contrast that interrupts the flow. But what the hell do I know anyway? Would be nice on a wall.
