 This is really a water toy. The beads inside are oil. Kind of works like a lava lamp.

Okay, now wait a minute... You're fooling me. And you're fooling me well. When looking at the stuff in the background, it looks as if the sand in the hourglass is indeed running up. Because the stuff in the background seems placed regularly. But that is of course impossible, since sand can't run up.
