As for why I chose BW...I ALWAYS choose BW, even if it's a mistake :S

The black head blends in the with black background. Good shot of the monkey.

This works very well in black and white. Contrast may need a bit of a boost in the center portion of the image around the head to bring out more detail around the right eye. The left side of the face and the lower portion seems to be a bit over exposed. 7

Love the b&w definitely, and your capture of such a pensive expression is wonderful. A catchlight in the eyes would have made it superb.

Very nice photo in b&w. I like the lighting you used. Might try darkening the background just a little bit more. The lines in it are a little distracting.
