Critique Club critique:

Composition/Content: Good contrast between the snow and the dark tree trunks. I like the subject, a tunnel of tree limbs lining a snow covered road. But there seems to be two points of interest: the end of the tunnel, and the light at the top of the image. It's difficult to tell what might remedy that. Widening the shot might depending on what is on each side.
Camera Work/Technical: The low camera angle does well for this shot. Exposure is good. Closing down the aperature would give greater depth of field.
Digital Processing: Processing looks good, color balance, noise, contrast.
My Opinion: I like the image. But the image needs a single point of focus that is interesting to my eyes. When my eyes are drawn to the light at the top I am disappointed because there is not much there. When my eyes travel back to the end of the tunnel there is not much there either to focus on. I believe opening up the shot with a slightly wider angle might help with the interest because I could then see the tree trunks framing the road. Maybe even a landscape orientation or someone down the road to focus on. You have a great idea with good technique that just needs a little something to top it off.

a lower apature setting would give more depth of field bringing some of the farther away trees into focus... which I would like better... and a more even crop so the trees on each side are spaced evenly from center would help too... but you did make a nice choice of subjects for the competition...

Road to nowhere is a bad title for a road with a bunch of footprints on it! That or, alot of people go nowhere.

The perspective - horizontally and vertically - is really good. Great shot!

You have choosen a very good vantage point from which to take this picture. I have been on lanes like this, and have several views like it in my area. I believe your lower camera placement is the key to the success of this picture. I enjoy this shot.

Very nice! Did you try this in B & W and Sepia?

nice but I htink it would have been better with more of the front two trees, like their trunks

Looks like where I live. Technically, this is a well done shot. You got a nice snow photo, which is often difficult to do. I like the dark trees, and the bright ground. It's a nice balance there. The angle and framing/cropping is good. You put your 'horizon' line in a nice spot. Focus and clarity look good as well.. not a shot to make me jump out of my seat with excitement, but still very well done. Good job, and good luck in the challenge.

I liked the verticle, but would have rated it higher is more foreground and less trees.
