 I had just started to decorate for Halloween with this ornamental corn, unaware that it was actually edible until I saw this chipmunk nibbling at it. He finished off all three ears in a couple of hours.

Adjustments: white balance and curves, Neat Image, cloned out some stray husk "threads", cropped and reduced the size, sharpened and added a border.

I'm really complain about your score, this was my favorite for this challenge, like i said during the challenge this is a winner, IMHO.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the very nice comments on this photo. I̢۪ve posted some outtakes for anyone interested in seeing more pictures of this little guy.

To answer some questions: I used the Tamron 75-300mm 4-5.6 telephoto lens. All the chipmunk shots were taken through my kitchen window and were reasonably sharp, but I was able to sharpen the scaled-down versions considerably in post-processing. The reason the background is so nicely blurred is because the only thing behind the chipmunk is a stand of trees way off in the distance, not close enough to focus on.

Small but mighty. The sharp focus gives this picture zing. And the colors of the corn do a great job of offsetting the muted tones of the chipmunk and the background. Excellent image.

I chased squirrels all over my yard with no results. I didn't even think about feeding them. Dah. You couldn't have handled the background any better. Great shot.
