Comment Challenge: For me, the yellow pants and red headphone cord makes this shot. There are enough "different" elements in this to keep it interesting, and even worth a second look. The placement of yellow pants' feet is curious, as is the foot position of the seated lady. I find it interesting that you chose to have no one looking at the camera. Perhaps cropping the top about the same distance above her head would reduce the badly distracting white upper floors of the background buildings. |

ha ha, Snow White is a tale not a novel but heck, she's here in person. A photo of the story in which the mirror is the cell phone and the apple might be the brand and in which she has a slight problem with her foot which can be as close to Cinderella as she can be.
Other than my interpretation, this is a snapshot that is not telling much to me

I don't think you've managed it.. This comes off as completely unconnected - it's as if you simply shot a picture on the street, then randomly chose a novel (fairy tale actually, not at all a novel), and put that in as a title.
For me this fails on all levels. I don't find it to even be a particularly compelling street shot.

Such an intriguing image in its own right, but only the most tenuous connection to the fairy tale "Snow White", which isn't a novel in any case. I'm gonna take a leap of faith and assume you are referencing Donald Barthelme's modernist classic version of Snow White, which indeed makes numerous "absurdist" leaps in the narrative. Fits THAT one to a tee, it does, because this image is absurd :-)
Give ya a 7. |

In my opinion this is quite the shoehorn. However, the image itself is very interesting with elements such as her boots, the way she is holding her phone, her stance, the photog in the background and the way she is sitting, and the flags in the background providing a sense of place. Overall, there is much to see here. One more thing, when I first opened the image and read your title it made me laugh and I do like images that does that for me. 7 |

This does not say Snow White to me at all. Maybe I am missing the boat on this one. It seems to be a snapshot of a lady on the sidewalk listening to music.

This could be the witch in disguise and looking at herself in the high tech mirror. |

hoo boy, more and more candids of people looking at iPods and iPhones... I guess I will now become the old man who dolefully recalls when people used to look at each other.
There is an element of humor to this, though. The main character is twisting away from the viewer, in her own world, and the title just imposes a character onto her because of this funny coat-blouse she's wearing. I like humor, especially when it's pulled from a candid, so I give you a 6. |

Could be a good candid but I find it a bit more of a stretch. Sorry I don't get it 4 |

I love this. Barthelme's Snow White, now of a certain age and, at some strange hesitant remove, texting. Barthelme is all about text, and she is wise to keep her distance. And the great secret about where in NYC, near tvsometime's favourite place, she has got slime on her boots. Barthelme would love that too.
But you don't have to know anything about Barthelme, or his Snow White, to appreciate this picture of Snow White. (And the younger and more passive Rose Red, like us, waiting for Mr. Right Scene to flash by). 8 for now. |

I wish I was getting the connection on this one, but I'm not. :(
I like the awkwardness of the feet and the hand and I like the color palette. However, in thinking all the way through the story, I'm just not coming up with a connection (unless eating the apple makes you nearsighted first. :)
Sorry. -5- |

The way this woman is walking is strange... how her feet are placed.
It looks like a snapshot, nothing really that stands out.

7...omg...she is fabulous. Under that leopard print scarf I know there must be some even more fabulous hair. A nit pick, the crop. I think I would enjoy this more squared up. And I would be remiss not to mention the Snow White-ness of it, or lack there of...but she's just so wonderful and ready for fashion battle. |

Wearing a bit of white doesn't really make the tie to Snow White to me, especially with the prominence of the yellow pants. A little too much competing for my attention in the background that doesn't really add to the story as well. A decent candid though, and I may have scored better in a different challenge. 4 |

Snow white and the wicked witch in black to the right :) Interesting pose captured of the woman holding her ipod out. Wish she was more in focus, and the background out of focus, as there are many distracting elements in this image. |

Amusing, I like her twisted stance. Well focused and balanced with the seated woman. |
