The eyes are funny but really too much nose. It's just hard to look at.
oh, but that mouth is funny, too.
Okay I have a policy of giving a 7 for funny, so 7. |

haha! Quite a shot. However, I'm afraid I'm having a hard time voting on this challenge. Many of the shots seem to be inspired by the title of the novel -- not by the novel itself. -5- |

wow....that's more detail than i ever thought i'd see regarding a bull's nose. have to say it's quite humorous, though generally unappealing to me.
technically well done for the focus and detail.
*edited* forgot to include vote before - this gets a 6 from me |

4...I don't see a connection to the book other than using its title for the title. |

Damn... I'm almost angry at you for taking what could have been an EXCELLENT book to portray and giving me a silly pun.
Weak sauce. 3 because I almost like the image. |

Did not read this particular Murakami book and upon glancing at the synopsis I do not think that it has to do much with it, save for the title.
Nevertheless, it's a good picture, a National Geographic type but in this context it does not move me at all.

Interesting. Not familiar with the novel but seemed to refer to humans. Back to the picture, at this level of details should have been tack sharp. 5 |

In relation to the novel, looking at a single moment of horror from every angle and the type of crime committed by Kawashima doesn't appear here. If this is a type of allegory, then you could get away with a connection ;) I'll judge you on the latter anyway. Technically, a little overprocessed for me but your composition includes all the key elements to convey the message.5. |

Love the shot, but the tie to the story is not there. Not really what I would consider a classic either. Would have rated it higher in a different challenge. 5 |

You want a classic novel? I don't need no classic novel. I like the in your face image but there's no association with the modern novel as far as I can tell. Image could be a 6 in another challenge. Here its only a 5. |

I am not a border police, and in fact I often use top and bottom black borders myself. Though I wouldn't do it in a challenge about novels. I was looking forward to portrait images that may work out well as book covers. But that's probably just me.
I would have set the focus range up to the eyes and applied selective gaussian to the corners with distracting elements.
5 from me. |

I haven't read the novel, but read up a little bit about it. Not sure if this portrays the novel well, as I understand it to be quite a weird, dark and violent work. From me 5 |

It's got some great detail in the face, but it is just a piercing of a cow's?? nose. I know it goes with the title of the book, but the theme of the book has nothing to really do with this...at least from what I read about it. Maybe a different piercing with a dark undertone or something?
I gave it a 3. |

Wow! Now that's a close-up of a snout as I've ever seen! :) Wonderful detail and clarity (maybe a touch over-processed?). Never read the book, but this fits the title perfectly! |

Great detail. Love the close up you have here.
Interesting shot for the title. I've never seen this before, but then again, I don't view any animals up close and personal like this. lol.
Great detail. Wonderful color. Nice processing.
Well done. 7 |
