I was thinking I wasn't going to find the time to take a photo to submit for this challenge due to my busy schedule but luckily I spotted this shot while driving down the road. This shot was taken less than a mile from my home. I wound the car window down an composed this shot through the window frame. :-)

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) I find the layout of this photograph to be interesting but not very strong. The horizon seems to cut the photograph in half and the viewer is not sure what the subject is.... is it the clouds or the field? By placing the horizon along one of the "rule of third" lines, you would direct the viewers eye to what you feel is the most important part of the photograph.

I like your use of leading lines here, the way the lay of the land seems to draw the eye to the little stand of trees. The dark row of hills in the background also lead the eye to the trees. The clouds are also a leading line and they lead to the same place.

(2) BACKGROUND This photo seems to go on forever. I think the "forever" feeling of this is due in part to the beautiful background..... the vast expanse of land.

(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is very well done. Your exposure keeps the whites very crisp without losing any of the detail in the grasses in the foreground.

There are so many facinating details that one really must look this photograph for a long time. My eye keeps getting drawn to the tiny little tufts of grass in the close front and the way the snow is still unmelted in that area. I also love the lone stand of trees in the middle of the field. Beautiful capture.

(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Your post processing is very good. You might have added to the strength of the composition by cropping it a little tighter and losing a little of the foreground.

(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. This is a very relaxing scene and filled with natural beauty.

(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO The subject here is beautiful. The way you executed it is very good. I think perhaps this is a photo that you might try to reshoot in many different lights and times of day and in different seasons. This is a great location to get some really neat shots. Well done!

This really isn't a bad photo. It just doesn't say wow. I don't know if you have notice that the photos that usually have ribbons, they say wow. The voters call it the wow factor. The grass does seem to go on forever and and then cuts off by the mountians. The mountians are very dark and hard to see. The sky is beautiful, maybe alittle more contrast, or try using a polarizer. If it were me taking the photo. I would have ran or walked closer to the mountains and then took the shot. Or even just took a picture without the mountains. I am not on the critique club, but thought it was unfair that they didn't critique your picture. Hope this helps.

Love the low angle used to take this shot, and my eye follows the lines of the field and mountain range to the horizon beyond. Great catch of clouds and time of day! fabulous! you got it!

Two things I think that would have made this a better shot (in mho) one - get lower to the ground - perhaps even use the weeds in the lower right to help frame the shot and give the view a more dramatic angle. Or, move the camera up a bit to eliminate the "greener" grasses in the forground. These grasses pull my eye too much and I think the focus is more on the vastness in the rest of the picture. Eliminating the green grasses in the foreground would also help give more focus to the clouds referenced in the title. = 5

Great shot..I think I see a storm coming? The composition is very good and I like the lonely exspanse of it.

Nice sky but not the most interesting foreground but there`s probaly not alot you could have done it. Overall 6.

Pretty. nice focus and clarity. The sky is beautiful. I like the angle and framing/cropping. The little patch of trees to the right adds just enough variation to keep it interesting. Color is absolutely wonderful. Both the sky and the ground. It's great how you got the green patch of grass there in the front, and how there are a few green patches out in the field. Placement of the horizon within the photo is very nice as well. Good luck in the challenge.

Nice shot but I think you could have cropped a bit of the foreground. Perhaps just above the weeds on the right. Good colors.

Nice color. What is the Smokiness in the background?

The real beauty in this shot is the sky. I think that you should have included more of it and lowered the horizon in the frame. Composing it so that you show less of the ridge from the left and then the trees on the right are further into the shot with a vast expanse of sky above ... THAT would be really cool.

Good work.

Beautiful! It just goes on forever. The one think I think would improve this though would be to move the horizon upward or, preferrably downward so that it doesn't cut the image through the middle. Just a little more either way.

Looks like Texas to me. Flat and brown! hehe

I think this shot would have benefited had the rule of thirds been applied.

the skyscape seems more interesting than the landscape in this pic

I think you could have cut off the bottom third, improving the picture a lot. Very nice indeed, but because the clouds are partially gray, perhaps a black / white version of this picture woul dhave been more striking? (5)
