So I figured I was taking a chance by doing a cat -- but, seriously now, why put in anything about the previous challenge when it's so easy to ignore it? It seemed like a challenge!!
Really...
Ignoring the whole cat thing seems to go against the idea of does not meet challenge.
After all, by doing a cat photo, I certainly didn't meet the challenge -- and wasn't that the point?
But there were lots of 4s. So either people thought I was supposed to meet the challenge, or they just really don't like Art with hair very much. :)
So why is Art in my photo? I knew that Moriarty had to be in the shot (yup -- the whole DNMC thing, should I go over it again? :)
Anyway, I knew Moriarty needed to be in the shot. And I figured he should be voting on the challenge.
The original thought was just to have him vote on a cat picture, and I thought of just taking a picture of the screen of one of the cat shots in the cat challenge. It couldn't be Mo, because that's too much. And just picking a random cat entry was boring.
So I tried to figure out what to have on the screen. I figured I could use the mona lisa or something like that, but that didn't sound too interesting. So I started thinking about people on DPC. And I thought back to this challenge, where I used existing artwork as part of the challenge, printed it out and photographed it (after gaining permission from the owners):
When I thought of Art Roflmeow, I was hooked. I loved the Roflmeow part, and I couldn't get it out of my head.
I emailed Art and asked permission to steal something from his portfolio. He graciously assented. The hard part was then to get Mo to sit on my keyboard tray in front of the screen. Because I still really suck at expert editing, and plus the existing artwork needs to be photographed, so I had to photograph the screen and not do that part just in photoshop. So I would stick mo on the keyboard tray, run around a softbox, and back behind my kitchen table to try to get a shot before he left. I ended up doing a little manipulation and movement on him, but as little as possible, because, as I mentioned before, I still suck at that part.
I really need to stop trying cat shots without a wrangler handy. If my son had been available, I might have even gotten Mo to actually press the one and look at the screen. However, it's likely that people still would have given it a 4 because of not liking Art with hair. (But hey -- I didn't know how to add hairy ears to a bald guy! You try it! I dare you!)
Thanks for all the comments. :)
