You scored low because the challenge discription said to photograph food. Regardless, this is an excellent photograph. The B + W, the border, the subjects; they all work really well together. Good Stuff!

I think you got robbed here... This was definitely a 'thinking man's' photograph and you get the award for creative interpretation of the challenge topic... great work :)
