This is taken in Tricase, Puglia, Italy. Salento, the southernmost area of Eastern Italy is full of wonders. Many rock cliffs and caves, such a paradise for the photographers. Such a shame that I live at 6 hours driving from there :/
Not an easy shot to take.
First of all my B+W ND110 filter fell on the ground and I was very lucky that it didn't break. The exposure was extremely hard for an on camera shot. The sky could be blown very easily and the dark rocks could be underexposed.
I worked hard with the camera settings (d-lighting, contrast, saturation noise reduction and sharpness) and I used a nice trick for the sky: with my left hand, starting from a quite long exposure, I covered for a few seconds the upper part of the lens, so the sky came out pretty well exposed and not blown.
I'm pretty sure that some voters could cast low votes for the vignette, but that's what I get using that filter, so I'll live with it. The more I look at this image, the more I'm satisfied with it. Landscape photographers know what I mean! :) |
