Whilst I do photograph wild African game, low key animals is not something I have ever done with much success. So this is a first attempt. There are many powerful low key wildlife images to be found online, and those with the breath fog in early morning backlight are largely most liked.
I've found DPC members mostly use domestic animals for low key. My Border Collie hates a camera and disappears when I aim mine anywhere near him :( so an Afican Buffalo it is...
This is a classic African Buffalo (Big 5) shot with grass in it's mouth and stuck to its face. Up the nose? Even better! Will it score high? No because it will be marked not on it's own merit, but in competition with landscapes, studio and water drops that will be more colourful, sharp, compelling and mainstream...

Ha! There you are then, the new and improved Harvey! No more expertly taken sharp, difficult, time-consuming bird images. The competition is heating up in my arena.
