So, how do you make water drops unique? That is a tough one, since they have been photographed so many ways already. I looked for inspiration, but mostly found the same old, same old.
Then I got thinking, maybe it's my taken on the standard shot that would be more unique. That change in mindset led me to this photo, where I sprayed mist onto a web, and then photographed it.
It was tough to get the drops in focus, even with the great auto focus of the 5D Mark III and a great macro lens. There was the slightest of breezes that kept pulling the center in an out. But eventually, I got some I liked.
Then, we I go back home, I turned on the creativity with some editing. I upped the contrast to turn the green background black. Then I used a gradient to give this some color and life. I am confident this is legal based on a smoke entry in the past that used a similar technique.
I really enjoy this result, and I hope the voters do as well.

Ooooh, my first in-voting validation request that isn't a minimal editing challenge. I'm confident it's legal, but that doesn't mean it will be ruled that way. This is exciting and scary :)
Validation Update: This morning (7/22/2013) I just got the note that my editing was legal. This will be another good example going forward for people wondering if the color gradient is ok or not. |

I like the colour play in the web very much and the drops almost look like pearls. |
