Critique Club Comment:

Hi there,

So you wanted an in-depth review of this photo. Well I̢۪m here to try.
Let me say first that, however this is a CC comment, it̢۪s just the view of 1 person: Mine.
I̢۪ve looked at your user profile and I̢۪ve seen that this is your lowest scoring picture till now. But I have the feeling that this doesn̢۪t bother you too much.
As I see it you takes pictures you like, sometimes a bit artsy and don̢۪t really care what others think as long as you like them, am I right?

But if you are here to win a ribbon, you have got to learn to please the DPC voters. I still didn̢۪t get one but learned a few valuable lessons.

Keep in mind that to vote a picture people take 2 seconds per photo. You have to make a good impression in 2 seconds.
Your photo is really small, and that costs you points. Try to take advantage of the 640 pixels allowed on dpc.
Then the bowl has some glare at the top side and there are some hard reflections on the spoon and the ice, probably due to using the flash.
This is not good for your photo, because it makes it look more like a snapshot.
I’ve seen other pictures in your portfolio, so I know you can do better, and you know you can do better. So next time take a bit more time for lighting out your photo, and maybe raise the saturation a bit, people love that over hereâ€Â¦.

Keep up the good work.

If you have any questions, comments or other things about this critique, or are bored and want to spam someone just PM me.

Ooooh, another flash-flood. Please avoid the on-camera flash for challenge images. Good idea though! Cute title. With better lighting (natural or some other light source would work well) this could be a great image.

This is a very good idea! But, the image is a tad too bright and it should be bigger. Check in the tutorials on how to resisize photos.

Good choice going with a neutral background. The light appears to be just a little bit off with the ring at the top (personal pref on my part) but good composition and I like how it's framed.

I can picture this desert on the menu in Texas
