Mexico is far away for me, but I have been to Acapulco once and bought this gorgeous blanket there. I read up a little on Cinco de Mayo and thought about it for ages. I tried to bring the cultural characteristics of colour, texture, spice and temperament to the shot, but also put forward the notion that against all odds, a small, fiery army can win a battle and then rejoice!
I'm still relatively new to photography and also to the software, so I didn't really do too much to the image other than crop and play around a little with the light levels, as I took it in natural light indoors (the weather isn't brilliant here at the moment) and I got some glare on two if the chillies.
I took a number of various permutations in terms of the stance of the chillies, but settled on this one, as (to me) it shows pride and a bit of fun at the same time. |
