Love what you found here, but I think the photo could have been done in a better way. One thing that immediately comes to mind is this was taken from a standing height, and is dead centered. Not a lot of interest in the way it was shot, I'm afraid. Great find, however, and the perfect title for it! |

Ha! Love the focus on the play on words. The tree trunk does seem to be sporting more than it should. While you had a good eye to spot this, I think there are a couple of things that could help improve the composition. First off, I think it would be better to trim off the sides so the tree then becomes the sole main focus. Also changing the compositional frame from horizontal to vertical will follow the shape of the tree and thus also compliment the shape and keep your audience focused on the main subject. Lastly, I think you could boast the dynamic tones between shadow and highlight just a bit - not too much just enough for the texture in the bark to visually pop a little more. |
