I think this shot is more interesting because it does not have bright colors. Certainly an intense study in refraction. Great idea...
A few details jump out to me that could have made this better.
1) Watch your horizon. Nevermind... I just pulled it into an editor to check and it is level. I guess the diagonal lines just make it look unlevel, and to voters, perception is reality.
2) The power in this (to me) is that it's not colorful. In that, I would have converted to B&W because I find the blue and orange bits in the refraction to detract.
3) The reflection off the front of the glass is distracting. It makes it too busy. Would a polarizer have helped? I think so... This, of the three, would have helped most, I think.
Of course, having looked at this for this long, I now find myself slightly dizzy. ;) |

Thanks h2 - I did try a lower angle but think I choose the higher angle to be able to see the swirls in the water looking down.
Here is a straight out of the camera lower angle shot - just grabbed this quickly from the many shots in the folder so may not be the best of this viewpoint

Thanks Sevlow - it is actually very unusual that I did not do any processing on this photo as I normally give every photo a huge blast of Topaz Adjust. The reflections on the right hand side are annoying too and I am sure could have been eliminated somehow when shooting. I should perhaps have made a DIY lightbox type thing rather than shooting in the back garden. |

Couple of comments about lack of contrast - would be interested to know if that was something that processing could have dealt with or required a different lighting set up? The lighting is simply natural light - sat on the table in the garden on a partially overcast day. |

Thanks and yes it is water. If I had realised spirits had different effects I would certainly have given that a try. I would like to re-shoot this one anyway so will try some Absinthe perhaps. |

Nice but more contrast would have helped. |

This boggles my eyes! Not too sure but it seems as if you lost a little bit of clarity but hey, stunning shot. |

Very appealing as Op Art instead of just another refracted image. |
