 Well this challenge snuck up on me! I missed the 'best of' challenge due to being on holiday and only realised this was happening an hour before the submission deadline - no time to go through (or edit) my images! Well anyway, about my entry:

I've been getting in to portraiture quite recently (you may notice from my last 2 entries, with also coincidentally the same subject) so it seemed appropriate to enter this, although there are many other photos right now in my head I feel I also want to enter and perhaps would do better.

I don't expect this to do overly well as dpc very much seems to go for the highly processed images, but this to me is what portraiture is about; it's an honest capture of both a subject and a moment, somewhat inspire by my recent visit to the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. I hope at least some others agree and I look forward to any feedback.

Thanks Alex (and thanks everyone else for the comments). I don't mind this getting such a low score though, I did expect it. I like the picture, and to me that's the most important thing.

I like the tilt of the head and the faraway look with the touch of a smile as she looks out the train window. She is traveling to some destination and the audience is left wondering just what she may be thinking with that smile of fond rememberence of what has past or expectation of what is to come. Her style of dress recalls the days of the 1930's or 1940's. I think the play of soft light from the window really complements the model and adds to that nostalgic mood of 'daydreaming'.
