How big is this thing?! Looks like an amusement ride. So sharp and clear. |

That is one odd-looking grasshopper beastie. Looks like he's wearing a face guard of some sort! Perfect DOF here. |

Wow, I googled those things - they're like something from sci-fi!
Nice sharp, eye-catching image with maybe a little too much negative space at the top. |

Holy moly these insects are huge! I knew about Weta's from the logo for Weta Workshop, but the size - well that is as close as I would want to be to one. You captured some nice sharp detail from the 'spikes' on the back legs to the head and antennae. My only critique is that the ground plane is too busy and dark in tones to really allow this bug to stand out from the backdrop. It looks like you may have been holding the piece of bark with the Weta on it - it might have been better to raise it up and take a shot with the sky as the backdrop. The sky with it's lighter tones would have allowed the dark tones of the insect to stand out and contrast more. Although....you may not have wanted to move it too much for it might take off in your direction :-) |

Grasshoppers make my skin crawl but this is a very fine capture of one - excellent detail. Voted earlier. |

This might have been an extra in the 1954 scifi classic Them! Beautiful shot, love the rich tones. |
