The Never Summer Range on the West side of RMNP. In 1914, members of the Arapaho tribe called the range Ni-chebe-chii, which translates to Never No Summer. Locals eventually settled on Never Summer Mountains for the range.
According to Posthumous, "Landscapes are essential to art. The landscape was an innovation of Romantic artists, the removal of the human story from Creation, an emphasis on compositional elements, leading eventually to complete abstraction."
Better size here.
I'm guessing this will be slammed because it is a b&w landscape. Some people do not consider such a photo to be "art". It's okay. I'll accept the harsh comments and the low votes because it is MY art. It's who I am. No sense in trying to present a photograph which might score better, but not represent my passion and skill set.

Ansel Adams' take on the scene. From the national park archives.

The validation verification demand arrived today. Not a problem, as it easily meets Advanced editing. I suppose some might see it as the same frame as , but this is a few frames later and a superior photo.
19 votes below 5. Indeed, there are people intolerant of landscape images, as art.
Received the validation this morning, after the challenge ended. "We are happy to inform you that your submission to the Art of 2012 challenge ("Ni-chebe-chii") has been validated.
Your entry has been reviewed by the Site Council and/or Administrators, who have confirmed your submission.
Thank you for your continued participation in DPChallenge!" |

Whilst I missed commenting (this has been a week of over 500 votes and a comment marathon for me) I absolutely loved this to award it a 7.
For me the term art is clearly defined. It is around us EVERYWHERE. However personal taste is what this challenge was voted on. 63/113 saw what you saw. |

Another good one... the dimension of the clouds and mountains lead the eye into the photo... |
