 I did not start out looking to go to Horseshoe Bend in fact I was not sure where it even was but we were driving down the highway and there were a lot of cars pulled over and I wondered what they were going to see when we saw the sign for Horseshoe Bend. I had seen photos of Horseshoe bend so I could not pass up a chance to go see it and what a sight it is. To really get the scope of what you see you have to look at the beach near the center of the shots, if you look real close you can see several kayaks sitting there. This shot was taken at 17mm and wished I would have had something a little wider. You can't tell looking at the shot but my feet are just out of view on the rock and that was plenty close enough for me.

The kayaks are kind of hard to see but they were added n the title to help people understand the true size of the scene. For anyone who can not tell for sure there is a small beach near the center in the lower section of the photo, those little specs are kayaks. It is an awesome sight and if you do not like heights it can be pretty intimidating.

Going down the river on Google Earth is fun, though I'd really love to do it as Powell did.
