 Thanks for the comments and votes. Taken at Nauset Beach, Orleans, where I often go after my cello lesson nearby. This may look like snow but it's sand, settled against the fences as a result of a couple of strong winter storms. I particularly like the visual interest added by the places where there is a gap or a wooden strip is broken.

Sadly I wasn't attentive enough to the clouds that were moving in and walked past this to the beach before returning to photograph it, only to realize that I had just lost the last of the sun for a long while. With my cello in the car, and temperatures around 20 degrees F, I wasn't going to hang around for too long!.

The best part of processing this image was the considerably increased processing speed and amount of memory in the computer I recently purchased, along with a 24" monitor. I was finally willing to experiment with different ways of processing, something that was previously just too frustrating to do... when it took "forever" for each even slight move of a control slider in NIK to take effect! I initially processed this with a much softer feel, but decided I preferred this starker, sharper version.

Image IMG_8312, processed in photoshop CS6 with Nik CEP and SEP.

PS I did so want this to have a higher score than the "Sleeping giant" image still on my profile page, but it lost .03 at rollover and so got "pipped at the post".

Wow - I love the composition.

My only nit: I would like to see the photo cropped to just below the dark area in the far upper right - for me that upper right dark is a distraction.
