 A shelter kitten playing in a little fabric kitty condo.

PP - cropped, white balance, levels, increased contrast, cloned out some imperfections and wrinkles in the fabric, touched up the kitten's face, added a little more texture to the fabric, brightened kitten face and dulled background, resized, USM.

This is a beautiful study of color.
The textures, the shapes it all adds to a wonderful picture.
I gave you a seven in the picture (I managed to get over my cat bias for a minute).

Where's the BURST of color? The blue is too large for a burst and the cat is gray.

It was too late for me to provide feedback on time, but I expect it should do well with people who read the challenge description in full: "Use a colorful impact to offset your subject from the rest of the photograph." This image clearly follows this to the letter by framing a grey cat inside the colorful box. Admittedly, your interpretation might be too original for those coming to this with preconceptions.
