This is definitely one of my favorite places on the island to shoot. It's such an incredibly beautiful area.

This was actually my plan B since my plan A fell through.

My original plan was to get a shot of sunflowers against a blue sky. There's an area on the north shore that has acres and acres of sunflowers. I think there are almost a dozen different varieties grown there and they're in bloom during the fall/winter months. Unfortunately, I think I was a week too late because when I got there, there were mowed down sunflowers as far as the eye could see. :(

I took some shots anyway and tried as hard as I could to turn it into something good. This is the outcome:

I like the shot a lot but I just didn't think it fit the challenge enough so I went to plan B. I guess that was a good decision. :)

Hehe, just brave.
This is a shot from last year that was taken of me while taking boat shots at this same spot. The tide was much higher when I took the burst of color shot though.

Great picture, and great fit for this challenge. The boat's color offsets it from the rest of the image, drawing immediate attention to it. The sky sets a menacing mood. The shore occupies just enough of the image to make it well balanced.
