 Taking a very liberal view of the theme in week 1. Coronado Dog Beach isn't exactly near Balboa Park, but taking Aloha to the beach is our New Year's tradition.

Since it came up in the comments...Aloha is my dog, and Allex is my wife. You'll probably be seeing them a lot this year.

They look like they're having a good time. Beautiful colours in the sand, Aloha has the same colour but darker and more saturated. I like that.

Totally agree about the contrast. I struggled with this one. It was a hazy day, backlit, and I was a long way away (this was taken with a 300mm lens), and I struggled with getting enough contrast while not blocking up Allex's clothes or blowing out the ocean. If anyone wants to try, I can send the original NEF file.

Looks to me like they are having fun. I love dogs period! I might suggest a little more contrast to make some of the colors pop...
