Most people make resolutions to lose weight and/or get fit. I've resolved to back into shape this year, and that means working out and cutting back on nummies...like the ones that are meant to be in this bear.
The bear actually ISN'T a cookie jar, but looks just like one. I painted on the highights in the eyes as they looked too flat otherwise. Then used an actual cookie and shellacked it like crazy so it wouldn't fall apart, and used a rubber band to hold it onto the paw, which I later cloned out. The chain is a 3-ft length from the local hardware store, I already owned the padlock and got some post-it notes just for the shoot.
Camera on tripod. Used the miniwide slave positioned behind the bear, pointing at the back wall, to illuminate the bg and used Flash Gordon on Manual at 1/2 power to blast the wall behind me, thus lighting the bear with only reflected light.
pp: altered RAW, crop, brightness/contrast, vibrance, dodge and burn, clone out rubber band on cookie and fix shape of cookie, resize, sharpen, save for web |

took me a second to work it out, i didnt realise it was a cookie jar till i saw the cookie in its paw. i gave it a 5 and that was generous looking back now
its isolated like a product shot yet its harshly lit, and there is no context to it. it need to be on the work top with stuff around it.
it just didn't connect with me, did you really think it was top 10? |
