(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) The composition of the photograph is the best thing about it. The leading lines of the tracks leads the viwers eye directly to the train and the movement of the train gives the photograph a feeling of power.
(2) BACKGROUND Unfortunately the background is rather cluttered. The power lines and poles distract from what would have been a very clean, well laid out photo. I realize that there are things like this that you have no control over. Did you try moving around a little, maybe to the left... or attempting a different angle?
The sky is very nice and gives a brooding sort of hauntedness to the entire scene.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure seems a little dark. Some wonderful details are lost in the "muddy" tones at the bottom. It is very difficult to get past that.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Sepia was a good choice for this photograph. I think that you might have been able to clean up the foreground darkness with your levels control. Did you experiment at all with that? It might make a worthwhile eperiment to do after the fact. You can look at it as a learning experience.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. I love the humor that you injected into the subject.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO The subject here is wonderful. I think perhaps this is a photo that you might try to reshoot. This is a great location to get some really neat shots. Done again, you might get it just right. |

I really like the composition and the color, but everything is out of focus. Intentional? I would prefer, at least, the tracks to be in focus. |

Needs focus and don't see the engine . Lights at the back (one on left and one at train) very distracting. Sepia nice idea. Good idea just needs much better execution. 3 PTL |

A bit grainy for my personal taste. However I like the motion blurr, and this definately represents the song nicely. The angle and framing/cropping are nice. I like how you didnt just take a pic of the train directly from the side. Seems to me like the powerline should have been in better focus, was this hand held? I'd like to see some crisp focus on something in the photo. The tones are nice for the shot. I think that it gives it a dreamy kind of look. Overall, a nice shot. Good luck in the challenge. |

i feel like givin' you extra points for picking a song that's cool. nice blur on the train, did you do something to get it reddish like that? teeny bit blurry, but i bet that was the train going by making the ground shake, right? make sure to email the deftones with a link to the results. |

I realize the train was meant to be blurry, but so is everything else. |
