Thanks all very much for all the nice comments and votes as well :)

This is the Seattle Great Wheel which is fairly new to the waterfront. The fish sculpture is about two meters in height and just plunked down off to the side of the pier the wheel sits on and mostly ignored sadly enough. I had to get down very low to shoot this perspective and the bricks on the pier (who puts bricks on a pier) froze my butt :P

I shot this scene once before a couple of months ago when the wheel was lit by floodlights from below instead of LED lights on the side. I posted that to Facebook already, so thought I would take a whack at shooting the wheel with LEDs for a different look.

The LEDs (which can be changed to any color) are super bright for a 30+ second exposure. I started dialing things in before it got very dark by using an 11-stop ND filter. Then as twilight set in I switched to a 3-stop ND filter to slow things down, and then because the wheel was so bright I slid an additional 2-stop soft ND grad filter in from the right side about half way. That gave me a pretty nice exposure overall with one exposure covering a huge dynamic range (just had to brighten the two right corners in Lightroom).

I could have done this as a multiple exposure HDR, but worried too much about whether it might not pass with the rules. Silly really...

Here is what the wheel looks like when not spinning if anybody is curious.

Everyone else pretty much said it all. I particularly like how the curve of the fish matches that of the wheel. Great work.

Brent... this perspective is so fantastic! The wheel now looks like one big, flat, oblong disk. So cool. Congrats on the red!

You did a GREAT job of keeping this shot crisp with such a long shutter speed.

I'm trying to figure out what that is, but I like the clever title - I'll bet not many will get it. You need a fisherman I guess to get it. Nice job - I like it - a nine for the image and a nine for the title. Well done.

Easily my favorite in this challenge. Great complementary colors. Stunning juxtaposition of the fish statue and the twirling wheel. Strong eye-appeal. An inspiring image. I expect this will be a ribbon contender. 10

This is fun to look at. Even after I figured out it's a fish, I can still go back & figure it out again. The way it's posed w/the blue wheel is just perfect. Well done.
