Challenge: Children's Toy IV (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-550D Rebel T2i

Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/15
Date Uploaded: Dec 30, 2012

When I saw the challenge was toys I immediately went downstairs and started playing taking photos of our HO train platform. I wanted to get a shot that looked like you were really there in that little town. Notice I even have a railfan on the left taking photos of the train. Hard to see in this size.

In order to get that effect I laid the camera on the train platform, angling the camera upward manually focusing on the train station and the front of the train. It was edited in LR & PSE with just increased contrast and brightness in specific areas.

We used to have a toy train when we were kids, but not quite as fun-looking as this set-up. Congrats on the ribbon!

Congrats on the ribbon; well done.

Lovely shot of what must be a great train platform. It looks like the old Märklin tracks, is that right? Anyway, congrats on your ribbon and PB, VWD!

Fabulous image of your magnificent layout. I am a Märklin fan and am 3 years into building my own layout. Wow. Wd on the ribbon.

I would have preferred a blue for this! But you should be happy anyway right? Brava and congratulations for your first ribbon and your new PB!

Congrats on your ribbon, very well done.

FYI, this is an example for images made with a tilt/shift lens; it can be used to make a real life scene look like a scene in a miniature

The original purpose of T/S lenses, though, is different, look here

Outstanding! Congratulations, Marcia!

What a beautiful little world... congrats!

Congrats on the ribbon! I was referring to a tilt-shift lens, which when used a certain way, produces this same effect, but on real size scenes.

Congratulations, lovely picture

Not sure what this means. I angled the camera up when I took it.

What a great set-up! Love the taxi at the station, the various figures waiting, relaxing, working. Congratulations on the ribbon.

Nice lighting and framing, not sure what the point of focus is here and it feels a little static. A touch of motion in the train could give the image make it stand out more for me. (8)
