This gull was usually around my workplace. In the mornings, he would hang in the back area. As it was quiet and warm from the sun. He would come for food and just hang out. Once the sun set, he would be in the front of the store. As the back was super dark. It took some time to figure out, but he had wing damage.
I am kind of bummed, as he has disappeared. Mainly as I was planning on catching him. Then taking him to a bird rescue centre, in Kanata. I checked his usually spots and found nothing at all.
My feeling is someone beat me to it. So I'll just think positive thoughts for him. Some may think, It's just a gull. Yet a week or so of feeding and hanging out, I gained lots of trust from him.
He would feed and drink, then sit with his back towards me. I was usually 4 - 8 feet away. Even got him to come in the front door of the store. Luckily no customers saw this...
So this shot is of him, at his favourite place. Outside of the door, looking in. He would do this for tens of minutes. No one would be in view, so I always pondered what he was looking at. Or thinking.....Funny how one animals fascination, can become your own.
So thanks little guy for the memories and good luck!

I think DPC people have pigeon on the brain LOL! Didn't get around to commenting on this one but the sign above the gull looking in is so poignant. Even more so with the backstory. Thanks for sharing :-) |

Fantastic. What wonderful timing. I wonder what the bird was hoping to order. |

Nice, you can see the bird thinking: buy or not to buy. Good image! |

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Lovely moment - a real contrast between indoor and outdoor worlds - the warm interior juxtaposed with the pondering pigeon works so well. The sub-text of food to be had and the pigeony obsession with scavenging offer some resonace too.
Critical stuff: Not really
Overall: Eclectic and well-presented. I like it. |

Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Ha! I love it! The early bird has come to shop! I take it he was the first at the door for Black Friday sales:-) Love how the gull is standing there peering into the store - I'm sure he would love all the edible goodies pictured in the posters on the windows. Great find and great capture. |

Almost missed the pigeon. The scene didn't have a point until I noticed that. |
