 I love these orchids and had been taking pictures of them. During editing I had noticed the very graphic, triangular spaces they made. When I saw the challenge I wanted to use that type of image. Needless to say the orchids had basically finished flowering and I used the last one for this image, hence the tatty edgesn on parts of the flower.

I originally wanted to use a plain white BG, but found I didn't like the flower just "floating" in nothingness, hence I took the one with the shadow in it.
During PP I tried a black BG which I liked, but wasn't sure if I was allowed to change the BG colour in Advanced editing, so I rather kept the white.

I thought it was a fun way of interpreting the challenge. I would have preferred to re-shoot with a different lens or different aperture to get the long petals into focus as well, but the flower has wilted.

I haven't enterd any challenges in a while; just hoping this doesn't get totally dumped ... :-).

Congratulations on the nice finish. I think a black background would have been very nice but I see what you mean about "floating" and it would have floated against black as well as against white. You just have to go with what you like best - which is exactly what you did :)

What a beautiful and delicate flower - and lots of triangles. I don't know how you could have avoided the shadows but I find them slightly distracting. Voted earlier.

Not sure the title needs to point out the obvious. I think the image works well though title aside.
