Yeah it's me, trying to look unrecognizable. Don't know if I'll succeed but it was fun trying.

Shot in my front yard against one of my maples, #2. Stuck an interesting, asymmetrical maple leaf in the bark to act as a focal point. Then I stood in front of the tree and leaf, tried to wear an unknowable expression and hit the remote. Counted to just past one second then quickly dropped from range. It can be tough to hold still that long and get an image that is fairly crisp, yet not so opaque that you lose the bg.

pp: altered RAW, crop, brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation, desaturate, resize, sharpen, save for web

Post-challenge notes: LOL must be a good image, it got a validation request during voting! Yes, it looks like an image overlay and yes, it does include two images - me and the tree - but it's all one capture. Apart from the odd PhotoChop project, I'm strictly a single-capture person. I don't even use in-camera Image Overlay, because things never look right...the bg from one image always messes up the other.

The only trick here is to start the exposure with the subject in the frame, and have them vanish by the time the exposure ends. The hardest part was holding still for 1 second and change to ensure a fairly sharp image.

Camera on tripod, used mirror lockup and remote.

Well executed, Susan. Didn't recognize you - probably because your skin normally doesn't look like tree bark. ;-)

Thank you for including notes. I had no idea that you did this with a long exposure. I thought that there was a window between you and the tree and that you were reflected in it. You did a great job.

cool and mysterious, like this a lot, it's got a Mother Nature or wood nymph feel to it, the leaf adds a nice touch to this.
