great subject, well done...love it
09/14/2004 12:30:07 PM
Nice balance - unusual composition that works really well. I really like the snail but wish there were a bit more light coming through the leaf (or whatever) its on. That part has some great colors that should be brough out a bit more. Don't care for the large border nor the light kline that edges its inside.
09/14/2004 11:22:08 AM
Awesome shot.
09/14/2004 08:45:11 AM
Sure to place in the top ten, maybe top five, maybe even a ribbon. Excellent shot. I wish it wasn't quite so dark overall, but it does meet the challenge and even has a bit of "action" in it. LOL. Good luck, maybe there's a ribbon here? 9
09/14/2004 05:37:07 AM
Beautiful picture.
09/14/2004 05:16:54 AM
best of the bunch (minus the border) ... 10
09/14/2004 03:43:06 AM
Very nice composition and interesting subject matter.
09/13/2004 04:13:29 AM
Beautifully lit...sure to do well.
09/12/2004 03:43:17 PM
This was my favorite image from the entire challenge. The detail, the focus, the color scheme, the backlighting, the almost transparent appearance of the body, the wetness ... its all there. I also love the composition, with the snail practically suspended above the clean, dark void with only a hint of support. Just added this image to my favorites. Congratulations.
09/12/2004 11:54:59 AM
Very sharp and well focused. Composition is perfect
09/12/2004 10:55:21 AM

Very pretty! Nice lighting. Good job.
09/11/2004 12:11:10 PM
Wonderful composition, exposure. Great detail. In this case the border works great, calms the scene down with that tin line in just the right color.
09/11/2004 04:51:21 AM
This is such a cool shot - well conceived and perfectly executed. The lighting really came out great and I love the simplicity of the composition. Great job!
09/11/2004 12:24:59 AM
the shell detail is amazing, the lighting soft enough to see the details without blowing out the soft body. 8
09/10/2004 04:37:51 PM
Love it! Good luck in the challenge!

P.S.
Coming back to say that I hope this one ribbons.
09/10/2004 03:48:51 PM
Hey, I like the snail. Great shot. That must have taken a while. 9
09/09/2004 08:49:00 PM
beautiful! This is a great shot...I love how you can see the light through the snails shell...the frame looks great too 10
09/09/2004 07:21:25 PM
I'm not sure how a snail can be elegant but this one is. The shapes and the quality of light make this one special. One of my few 10s for this challenge.
09/09/2004 06:06:19 PM
Very very nice. Just the right amount of light.
09/09/2004 02:59:18 PM
Wow, very nice. Love the detail on the shell.
09/09/2004 10:21:13 AM

Nice lighting...-8-
09/08/2004 10:17:55 PM
This is a *great* example of backlighiting. I like that you've used the empty space to suggest a precipice that your subject is hanging over. I liked this immediately on viewing. The only thing I *don't* like, is the heavy border. I don't feel it was really necessary, and could have gotten away with a third of it's thickness and been effective.
09/08/2004 10:07:08 PM
Excellent. One of the best I've seen so far. Kudos to you.
09/08/2004 08:39:27 PM
Wonderfully composed and exposed. The frame... well, it's just ok. Still, I give this a 9. Nice job!
09/08/2004 11:59:23 AM
Wow.....
09/08/2004 09:57:37 AM
