I had the idea for this shot from the time the challenge was announced, the light of a candle bouncing off a book.But the week was busy and never found time to shoot until the last day. This was the quickest I have ever set up, shot and edited a submission, about 40 minuets from gathering props to submission. On the whole I like it but the lens flare from the candle on the back hand makes me crazy. Oh curse you basic editing.

The details are perfect. The candle is as illuminating as a quiet moment of denouement- and as such the candle must be bright. Great shot Brennan, and congrats!

You have caught the essence of what you wanted to say through this image. I like the subtle things, like the ring on his had that captures some of the light. I am curious what the reddish spot is above his left eye?

Very nice composition and dark atmosphere. The hand in the background somehow seems not to belong to the bearded man...looks kind of "too young"?

Absolutely stunning and reminiscent of the portroyal of the Jesuits and Franciscans depicted in the movies who recorded history in years of yore.

From a personal perspective, it reminds me of my youth when we had to complete our homework by candlelight during the winter months as we had no electricity.

A fantastic image well deserving the 9 score I have given it.
