My buddy Brian and I took a 3 day, 2 night backpacking trip into the Holy Cross wilderness last weekend. I took only my Leica V-Lux 3 camera and a small gorillapod hybrid tripod. The Gorilla pod worked great! Very light, and very adjustable for any odd shaped terrain. And the best part is, it has a level bubble! So getting the horizon level in all my shots was easy. No straightening later in PP. And my V-Lux 3 has the articulating screen, so it was easy to compose each shot too, and it's a very light camera. It's a very good all around camera. Great for landscapes, telephoto, and macro as well.
This entry is 3 shots at 1EV apart. I manually combined each as a layer in PSCS5 to achieve a natural feel for an HDR image. The sky is pretty much one exposure, the lake another, and the mountains and myself and at regular exposure. The Leica V-Lux 3 is only 12mp, so resolution is good as long as there enough good light. Otherwise, noise seems to creep in a bit. But this image seemed to work out ok. |
