Thanx John,

It was the end of summer here in Holland, one of the last few warm day's and as this is a 2 hour drive I had to take this photo and use it.
I know the sky is boring, and could do with some clouds and maybe some extra color, but I'm still happy with my 16th place.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

Hi Philos31...

I don't believe this photo needs much 'critique'. I can't suggest any real improvements in it without suggesting shooting at some different times on different days looking for the best possible sky for a background. Excellent shot :)

Thanks to everybody for your votes and comments.
This is my first 6+ scoring photo, and my first top 20 result.
Very pleased with the scoring, not very pleased (still) with the photo.

This certainly does say Holland to most of the rest of the world. Very nice.

Interesting image, but colours seem oversaturated. A compression artifact from reducing the image maybe? My submission has the same problem. It looks great in its original size, but suffers from degrdation from resizing.

This is an excellent shot. I would have liked to see more vivid color, and might have edited the leaves in the lower right. Otherwise wonderful.

This shot's interest is mainly thanks to the subject and not your choice of angle, etc. You could have crouched and got some more foreground in since the sky is quite bland but the river very interesting. Well composed otherwise and they are lovely windmills.

..... de Kinderdijk :)
Nice composition and I like the way the mills are lighted by the sun.

... and Hoogendyks? Love the image. Much more romantic and nicer than those sterile old white electric generating windmills you see in California. The highlights almost look like they are lit up with special lighting. Thanks for the image. Good luck with it in the challenge.

This is definately a photo I could see in a travel guide. I think it's framed perfectly, though I am distracted by the grass in the bottom right corner of the frame.

Also, the sky seems to be an unpleasing shade of blue...

Very nice shot, though!

This is my pick for the challenge. I think what makes it is the composition, the near windmill being in sharp focus compared against the far windmills with the rough reflections. A "very well done" and a 9 from me.

is that Kinderdyk? I took almost the exact same photo there in August. Very cool shot.

I don't think there's a better way to say "The Netherlands" at all :) It's a nice time of day for this shot, I really like how the lights of the windmills start to show here. I think the focus is just a little soft for my tastes, and a nice bump in contrast might have helped as well? This is one of the stronger images for the theme that I've seen though, so great work!

Nice angle, it adds interest. The evening colors are nice as well, and seems to highlight to the windmills. Holland is beautiful............. :)

Nice composition of a classical Hollands cliché. The light gives a nostalgic mood.

Great lighting, looks like the perfect time of day. Too bad there weren't any clouds in the sky to give it some "texture". I do like the diagonal line made by the windmills and the water.
