Photographer’s Notes
This was an interesting challenge. Usually my iPhone takes mediocre photos. It’s not fair to blame the phone … I usually take mediocre photos with my iPhone. I am accustomed to my D3 rescuing me from low probability situations and when I expect the iPhone to rescue me, I’m disappointed in the photo and in myself as a photographer.
So why was this interesting? It was an opportunity to intentionally shoot within the capabilities of the camera and to look for higher probability shots. It was fun in a way that stretched me beyond my comfort zone.
I like the texture of the tree bark. I like the high contrast. I like the subtle colors. The trunk looks like it has character … hence the reference to the Fast Eddie Felson line in The Hustler.

I feel like that in the mornings sometimes too.

The title suggests to me that I should be seeing a face in the bark, but it's just not coming out for me. Ont he other hand, I'm now seeing what could be Jar-Jar Binks on the right side.
