took my daughters out to place flags on the graves of some veterans took this candid while out.

Well a lot of folks felt this was sadder than glad, I feel like knowing the back story would have helped but,...the point of any good photo is to be able to tell the story without words.

Sweet idea. Nice light and composition. I might like it a bit better if it didn't look quite as posed. Voted earlier.

Your pic....whether posed or not....made me proud to be American. I am assuming that this is a war memorial....It has invoked tons of emotion on my side...Thanks

I am torn because this is a wonderful moving photo but going to the grave of a loved one is never a feel good experience especially for a child. I think it missed the theme.

One of my favorite type of newspaper assignments is to capture "wild art", which is defined as "Stand-Alone, Feature Shot, Enterprise art are found moments that are intended to be realistic slices of everyday life" (definition taken from this glossary). These are typically images that caption themselves, not needing a lot of words to get their point across. For this challenge, I'm scoring images as whether I'd like to see them on the front page of a paper as feel good wild art. If I don't think they would make the paper, I'm then asking myself, "does it make me feel good?" If it doesn't do much for me, well then, oh well...

While this is a nice photo and a nice sentiment, it's not moving my "feel good" needle. Yes, there are things about this idea that I should feel good about, but there's more of an air of sadness than gladness, don't you think?
