 Taken on the eve of the Finnish Midsummer celebrations. This is the perhaps the one public holiday the Finns enjoy the most (along with other Nordic countries). It's celebrated at the weekend closest to the longest day, this year 22th-24th June.

Traditionally the Finns leave their homes and run off to their Summer cottages and spend time together with friends and family, grilling, boating, swimming (in the lakes) and of course, the obligatory sauna features a lot during these celebrations.

Lucky for me I picked the right night to take this image. I took it on Friday 22nd around 30 mins before sunset (which was at 11.20 pm). Had I waited to take it on Saturday or Sunday I wouldn't be entering this challenge as the weather turned.

Almost didn't enter as I rather like this image and will be disappointed if it ends up with a 5.blah score. Still, at least I am happy to have it in my portfolio, whatever the score ends up being.

I had another version, but decided to go with the original. The original has had very little editing.

Lovely, but the bottom quarter is distracting, I would of cropped of the dark bits.
