 I am really happy with this shot. I don't have the right lenses for bird photography. I think I got lucky with this one.

The BG is not edited. Found the bird on a parking lot and the grey is the surface of the road.

My birdie is doing so well - very surprised and of course very pleased :-). Thought voters would be looking more for an Advanced edit type picture.

Thought I should clarify: This Dikkop is not captive :-).This Species gets quite used to urbanisation here in South Africa and this particular one hangs out on the golf course. When I took this picture they were on the parking lot. The grey BG is as it was - its the tar of the parking area :-).

I'm so jealous. We used to have a couple of them living in our garden for two years before they decided to move house. I got some nice shots, but I never managed a close-up.

A very good closeup of a confined bird with neutral background. Photographing a confined is okay, as that is the only way some people ever see some birds. The feather detail, eye detail and beak detail is superb, as one should expect from a bird which cannot flee.
