This shot was taken same day that I took my "bradbury" shot as well as my 'sand' shot. It ended up being a very worthwhile day!
Most of you, maybe would of read about the events on that day, and the shocking weather that prevailed. I took this photo only a few mins before my ribbon winning shot in the 'bradury' challenge, it was the few secs I managed to stay standing up whilst being outside.
You see this guy in the photo was making his way towards the jetty and I was so curious as to what he was going to do when he got there, b/c it wasn't really the type of day to be venturing out.
Of course the urge to take a few snaps of him was apparent. I had to be quick b/c in a matter of secs, the lens would fog up.
So after about 10 shots, I headed back to the car, to warm up, I took out my cleaning cloth and wiped all the grit from my camera that had flown onto the lens. As I sat there, the very guy I was taking photos of was knocking on my car window "oh oh I thought what does he want"!! He handed me his business card and said "could you please email me the photo's you took" I said "sure no problem, I was taking photo's for a comp and when I saw you I thought I could enter that one in" He was chuffed about it all.......and needless to say, so was I.

I like the motion of the stormy water, I can't help feeling though that a different perspective would have created a stronger impact (being level with the man and facing him so we could see his expression, for example.) Could be a bit brighter overall. |

The processing really accentuates the power. Nice job. |

I think the tones in this are excellent, very reminiscent of your own style (i've seen you process shots like this before, you'll have to tell me how!). the one thing i see that might be hurting the score is the person in the image. the scene itself is powerful, poignant, stormy and emotional; the person's pose is fun and playful, and some people might not like that contrast. I can't fault this image technically; i think it deserves at least a 6 for sure.
edit to add: just came back to say how great your style is, it's definitely a dpc friendly style. don't shy away from it. |
