I never expected this to ribbon with the score that was appearing over the week, I thought 4th or 5th was more likely.

Went to Dungeness for this shot where my step son Bobby-Liston got his shot as well. Some great old relics down there and I just hit lucky with the sky.

I am all for honest feedback and in answer to your critique I will say I do not know what you think could have been done differently to make it less snapshotish - I do agree the ground and sky are very dominant in the image so do take a lot of attention from the boat.

As for criticism though, I would have thought that if one is going to offer it then at least make sure your own work doesn't fall foul of what you are using against someone elses.

EDIT: Removed a comment - to be honest I just can't be bothered with it...

Congrats on your ribbon. To be honest I hit you hard first time around do to the processing. Came back the 2nd time and bumped it up to 7. Really liked the subject and all the textures. Nice job!!!

I'll offer up a differing view: Looks like an overworked snapshot. The composition is very unimaginative, and while the sky is quite interesting, I find myself looking at it and the ground more than the actual subject.

While the subject is a great example of an abandoned item, to me, the image derives it's interest mainly from the color map, not much more. Not trying to make enemies, just trying to offer up a different sentiment. I think this site needs more of that.

Thanks for your comment on my Corfu picture - the location is San Stephano - the one near Sidari in the North West.
I was there to photograph a wedding which was also being filmed for a T.V. show.(No pressure there,then!). I had to sign a release form so who knows? I could end up on T.V. around October time!
