I had a hard time deciding what superpower to do and time was running out, so I called Ryan and asked him for ideas.
This was one of them, and once I learned where the local tennis courts were located, contacted local tennis pro Jim Neubauer. His teenage son Andrew is on the right, and Martin, another club member, is on the left. They were actually playing each other but swapped sides, so I was able to get both in the sun. Early on I did have to dodge one errant tennis ball but was fine after that, and stayed by the relative safety of the net post, hunkered below the level of the netting. Shot Wednesday night for about an hour before the light began to go.
Had to return to reshoot the background on the day the entry was due, then glued myself to the computer til an hour before I was due at work. I can still barely see straight!
Shot handheld with my old workhorse lens, the 18-200 for the players, then used Siggy on a tripod for the background.
pp: Altered RAWs, brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation, selecting and refining galore, drop shadows on the figures, then cloning/smudging to get inside the clothes and of course remove skin. Place them all in, resize and sharpen, enter and call it a day. Whew.
ETA: Yes I know the strings on the racquets are missing, I had little choice as time was too short. |

Good thjng the ball isn't invisible, that would be a very dificult game. Best invisible man shot in the challenge. Well done. |
