Being from the Midwest where the terrain ranges from rolling hills to dead flat, where natural waterfalls are few and far between, where no one has even heard of adobe or the Pueblo style of architecture, where even in periods of drought cacti and succulents are houseplants, and where the drama of a seascape is impossible, I hesitated to even enter this challenge. But then I reconsidered. I love black and white. I love Ansel Adams. The challenge details state: "in the style of"; they do not say "with a subject similar to that of". So I decided to enter. I sought a subject Adams might have encountered had he lived in the Midwest, went out in the late afternoon when the light would best illuminate the west facing planes of the buildings, and pushed the tonal range as far as I dared given the actual day I took the shot. I am happy with the result and would be delighted with top 75% and a few comments :)

Well, it's the last day of voting and pretty obvious that I will not hit the top 75%, but I should finish above 50% and there are many wonderful entries. I just counted and see I gave 50 scores of 6 or higher; since I figure to finish at 5.8 or 5.9, this makes me feel better somehow LOL |

A very worthy tiny violin! (A "tiny violin" is a score that just didn't quite make 6.0 - there's a forum thread you can post to.) I very much like your approach to the challenge - very Adam'ish indeed! |

An interesting scene but the image appears almost like an etching and looks over-sharpened. The shapes of the buildings is its strongest point, a closer view of them might have made for a stronger image, but that is just my opinion. |

Looks a bit surreal, which is not an insult. Very good control of highlights and shadows. The sky is interesting. |
