This is a very nice shot. It's clear and sharp and the colors are great.
Now, here's some advice in terms of DPC.
A similar shot that would score higher on DPC would be a tighter shot on the elk. Zoom in and use a large aperture to create nice bokeh. You might have been all the way zoomed in anyway, I understand. Also, a slightly different angle with the Elk's head not directly in front of the big tree in the background may have allowed you to crop in tighter on the elk's head.
Don't take this as criticism of the original image because it's not, I personally like it a lot. Just some DPC score related advice for you. |

Very nice example of spring. I wonder if this could have had slightly more impact with a tighter crop, to really highlight the subject. |
