Perhaps 500mm is somewhat too much for a hockey field.

I'm personally fine with the way the lens has rendered the closer player, but I would really have like to have been shown the ball. The action of the game is somewhat ambiguous here, and while I know the sport, the focus should be the action, what's transpiring.

The dude in white is spot on, the other guy is not only out of focus, but he has a slight double exposure going on which is very distracting. I have no clue if this is an effect of your lens, I'll assume it is.
